Impact story · Pledge 1%
Four months of donated work became a funded program.
Minority Veterans of America came to us through Catchafire with a database problem. What began as a volunteer project is now the marketing infrastructure behind their national outreach.

The organization
A national nonprofit that runs on reaching people.
Minority Veterans of America serves veterans who are people of color, women, LGBTQ+, and religious minorities. Their programs depend on community, and community depends on being able to reach the right people with the right message. When we met them, that outreach was running on a contact database nobody fully trusted.
What we built
From a cleanup task to working infrastructure.
Email foundation
Domain authentication, a compliant preference center, and branded templates, so email from MVA arrives, and arrives looking like MVA.
Audience architecture
Five segmented mailing lists with public sign-up and automatic routing, so newsletters, advocacy, events, training, and volunteering each reach the people who asked for them.
Trustworthy data
Native duplicate detection with staff self-service merging that protects sensitive case notes, plus automatic removal of dead addresses.
Visibility
An audit of the organization-wide dashboard that surfaced reporting errors leadership had been reading as fact.
Open the front door
A public member registration site, so anyone can join at any hour without staff having to key it in.
Self-sufficiency
A living reference document the team owns, covering every URL, list, and common task, written for people who do not work in Salesforce all day.
The turn
The work proved itself, so the client funded it.
In May, MVA secured grant funding to continue the engagement through the end of the year. The volunteer project became a paid contract, on the strength of what the first four months produced.
That is the outcome we want from Pledge 1%. Not a donation that ends when the hours run out, but capacity an organization can see the value of and choose to keep.

Complimentary hours, every month
Alongside the funded work, five hours a month are contributed at no charge through December. Tracked and reported like any other hours, so MVA can see exactly what the contribution is worth to them.
